Taxonomy

Coracias was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is extant. It is the type genus of Coracioidea.

It was assigned to Coraciidae by Mayr and Mourer-Chauviré (2000), Mlikovsky (2002), Clarke et al. (2009), del Hoyo et al. (2014), Clements et al. (2017).
