It was recombined as Alopiopsis (Physodon) secundus by Stromer (1910); it was recombined as Carcharias (Physodon) secundus by Leriche (1926); it was recombined as Physodon secundus by Casier (1946), White (1956), Cassier (1966) and Thurmond and Jones (1981); it was recombined as Rhizoprionodon secundus by Bor (1980); it was recombined as Physogaleus secundus by Cappetta (1980), Noubhani and Cappetta (1997), Maisch et al. (2014), Case et al. (2015), Ebersole et al. (2019), Boulemia and Adnet (2023) and Popov et al. (2024).
