Cyclopteris was named by Brongniart (1828) [also said to be 1830]. It is not extant. Its type is Cyclopteris reniformis.
It was assigned to Medullosaceae by Jennings (1980); to Filicales by Chandra and Tewari (1991); and to Neuropteridae by Dilcher et al. (2005).
