Taxonomy
Crurithyris tumibilis was named by Cooper and Grant (1976). Its type specimen is USNM 154425a, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Orbicoelia tumibilis by Chen and Shi (2006).
