Taxonomy
Sholakoceras was named by Ruzhentsev and Shimanskiy (1954) [Sepkoski's age data: P Sakm Sepkoski's reference number: 524]. Its type is Sholakoceras bisulcatum.

It was assigned to Nautilida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Rhiphaeoceratidae by Ruzhentsev and Shimanskiy (1954), Teichert et al. (1964) and Miao et al. (2019).
