Archepsychops was named by Tillyard (1919). It is not extant. Its type is Archepsychops triassica.
It was assigned to Prohemerobidae by Tillyard (1919); to Psychopsididae by Martynova (1949); to Osmylopsychopidae by Riek (1955), Riek (1956); to Planipennia by Carpenter (1992); to Psychopsidae by Tillyard (1923), Peng et al. (2011); and to Osmylopsychopsidae by Lambkin (2014).
