Phalacrocorax mediterraneus
Taxonomy
Phalacrocorax mediterraneus was named by Shufeldt (1915). Its type specimen is YPM 943, a limb element (carpometacarpus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gerry's Ranch, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Colorado.
It was recombined as Meleagris antiquus by Marsh (1871), Hay (1902); it was recombined as Meleagris antiqua by Lambrecht (1933); it was recombined as Paracrax antiqua by Brodkorb (1964), Cracraft (1968).
