Taxonomy
Kogolepithecus morotoensis was named by Pickford et al. (2003). Its type specimen is Mor II 28'03, a tooth (left m/2), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Moroto II (UPE collections), which is in a Miocene/Miocene fluvial mudstone/siltstone in Uganda. It is the type species of Kogolepithecus.
