Cleiothyridina intonsa was named by Chronic (1949). Its type specimen is AMNH 26925/1:1, a shell (Articulated shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is AMNH301, Bed 38a, Rasuvilca Hills section 9, Pajege Canyon, which is in an Asselian/Sakmarian marine limestone in Peru.
