Taxonomy
Robinjohnia was named by Martynova (1948). Its type is Robinjohnia tillyardi. It is the type genus of Robinjohniidae.

It was assigned to Nannochoristidae by Riek (1968), Willmann (1978), Carpenter (1992); and to Robinjohniidae by Martynova (1948), Willmann (1987), Novokshonov (1997).
