Taxonomy
Dobbertinia was named by Handlirsch (1920). Its type is Dobbertinia reticulata. It is the type genus of Dobbertiniidae.
It was assigned to Dobbertiniidae by Handlirsch (1939) and Willmann (1978); to Mecoptera by Carpenter (1992); to Sialidae by Ansorge (2001) and Engel and Grimaldi (2008); to Sialidinae by Liu et al. (2015); and to Sialinae by Martins et al. (2022).
