Taxonomy
Archocyrtus was named by Ussatchov (1968). It is not extant. Its type is Archocyrtus gibbosus. It is the type genus of Archocyrtinae.

It was assigned to Acroceridae by Carpenter (1992) and Evenhuis (1994); to Archocyrtidae by Nagatomi and Yang (1998); to Acrocerinae by Gillung and Winterton (2017); and to Archocyrtinae by Ussatchov (1968) and Gillung and Winterton (2019).
