Taxonomy
Neurigona was named by Rondani (1856). It is extant. It is the type genus of Neurogoninae.

It was assigned to Dolichopodidae by Carpenter (1992); and to Neurigoninae by Aldrich (1905) and Pollet et al. (2004).
