Taxonomy
Chendytes lawi was named by Miller (1925). Its type specimen is UCMP 27001, a set of limb elements (tibio-tarsus and tarso-metatarsus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Santa Monica, north, which is in a Pleistocene coastal sandstone in the San Pedro Formation of California.
