Taxonomy
Xanthopsis brasiliana was named by Maury (1930). It is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is Right bank of Rio Gramame (Sphenodiscus zone), which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate limestone in the Gramame Formation of Brazil.
