Ampliconus browni

Osteichthyes - Periptychidae

Taxonomy
Ampliconus browni was named by Eberle and Lillegraven (1998) [described by Middleton (1983, unpublished Ph.D. thesis) and validated by Eberle and Lillegraven]. Its type specimen is UCM 34163, a partial skull (partial skull containing LP2-M3 and RP2-M3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Alexander, which is in a Puercan terrestrial shale/sandstone in the Denver Formation of Colorado. It is the type species of Ampliconus.
