Taxonomy

Bairdia verwiebei was named by Kellett (1934). Its type specimen is USNM 89471a, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Junction City, quarry 4 miles W on Hwy 40, Geary County, which is in a Sakmarian shallow subtidal limestone in the Wreford Formation of Kansas.
