Pentacrinus decorus was named by Thompson (1864). It is extant.

It was recombined as Pentacrinus (Neocrinus) decorus by Wyville Thomson (1864); it was recombined as Neocrinus decorus by Donovan et al. (2005), Hess and Messing (2011).
