Taxonomy
Jinfengopteryx was named by Ji et al. (2005). Its type is Jinfengopteryx elegans. It is the type genus of Jinfengopteryginae.
It was assigned to Avialae by Ji et al. (2005), Ji and Ji (2007); to Troodontidae by Lü et al. (2010), Godefroit et al. (2013); and to Jinfengopteryginae by Sellés et al. (2021).
