Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
W. W. Korth 2007 | Intermediate to large sized castoroidine (near that of Dipoides); cheek teeth subhypsodont but rooted (not prismatic and ever-growing as in Dipoides) with crown-height indices (CHI) of 1.5–1.7; depth of striae (-ids) on cheek teeth longer than in Monosaulax; depth of lingual striids on P4 greater than in Eucastor tortus or Monosaulax (mesostriid on lower premolar extending more than half the total height of the crown, parastriid extending about one-third the total height of the crown), but never reaching the base of the crown; Dipoides-like occlusal S-pattern on first and second molars (loss of parafossette [-id] and metafossettids [- id] before formation of mesofossette [-id]); M3 equal to or larger than M2 in size; incisors not as procumbent as in nothodipoidines; incisors with smooth, rounded ante- rior enamel surface (not flattened); rostrum length simi- lar to that of Diopoides, not elongated as in nothodipoidines; postorbital constriction also as in Dipoides, not as pronounced as in nothodipoidines; no ridge on posterior orbital wall as in Eucastor and nothodipoidines; temporal crests remain unfused for most of the neurocranium as in Dipoides. |
