Taxonomy
Malpaisia maceyi was named by Stevens and Stone (2009). Its type locality is SJS-1217 (4-2), Conglomerate Mesa, which is in a Kungurian shallow subtidal limestone in the Santa Rosa Flat Formation of California. It is the type species of Malpaisia.
