Taxonomy
Empirea hasta was named by Carter et al. (1998). Its type locality is S3-4-87-CNA-KUD-2 and -8, Kunga Island, which is in a Hettangian basinal (siliciclastic) limestone/siltstone in the Sandilands Formation of Canada. It is the type species of Empirea.
