Taxonomy
Xixianykus was named by Xu et al. (2010). Its type is Xixianykus zhangi.
It was assigned to Ceratonykini by Agnolin et al. (2012); to Alvarezsauridae by Delcourt and Grillo (2014); and to Parvicursorinae by Xu et al. (2010), Averianov and Lopatin (2021), Kubo et al. (2023).
