Orycteropus crassidens
Taxonomy
Orycteropus crassidens was named by MacInnes (1955) [MacInnes lists the type number as 1811.50]. Its type specimen is NHM M. 21543, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rusinga Island, Pleistocene, which is in a Pleistocene terrestrial horizon in Kenya.
It was synonymized subjectively with Orycteropus afer by Pickford (1975).
