Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
R. Pascual et al. 1992 | Differs from Steropodon galmani, an early Cretaceous taxon known only from a lower jaw fragment (Archer et al. 1985), in being much larger in all comparable dimensions. Differs from the species of Obdurodon (insignis Woodbume and Tedford, 1975; dicksoni Archer et al., this vol.) in having three rather than two upper molars, a more bulbous anterolingual cusp on M2 and in other aspects of molar morphology detailed below. Differs from Ornithorhynchus anatinus, the living platypus, in having well developed teeth and in most comparable aspects of crown morphology, the molars of Or. anatinus being vestigial. |
