Taxonomy
Protomichelinia gangiliigera was named by Zhao and Cheng (1988). Its type specimen is HF/102055 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Douling, Changning (Douling Fm, Upper Mb), which is in a Wuchiapingian marine mudstone in the Douling Formation of China.
