Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
P. Missiaen et al. 2011Diagnosis.—Eotitanops pakistanensis is a small brontothere with low-crowned, weakly-dilambdodont upper cheek teeth. It differs from other species of Eotitanops in having more oblique upper molars with a stronger labial rib on the paracone, a smaller paraconule, a more distinct metaloph, and a larger hypocone that is subequal in size to the protocone; differs from Palaeosyops in having more weakly developed cingula on the upper cheek teeth and no mesostyle on P4. E. pakistanensis differs from most other brontotheres in having a parastyle cingular shelf; in having a low, labially concave ectoloph with more strongly developed molar ribs and rounded lingual sides on the paracone and metacone; and in having a markedly triangular M3 that is subequal in size to M2.
