Oligopithecus savagei
Taxonomy
Oligopithecus savagei was named by Simons (1962). It is not extant. Its type specimen is CGM 18000, a mandible (left dentary preserving c1-m2). Its type locality is Quarry E (Jebel Qatrani Formation), which is in a Rupelian fluvial sandstone/mudstone in the Jebel Qatrani Formation of Egypt. It is the type species of Oligopithecus.
