Taxonomy
Eumetopias kishidai was named by Shikama (1953) [type specimen stored at the Geological Institute of Yokohama National University]. Its type specimen is no nunber, a partial skull (tip of a snout), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Megakura, which is in a Pleistocene marine sandstone in Japan.
It was synonymized subjectively with Eumetopias californianus by Mitchell (1968).
