Taxonomy
Bucania exilis was named by de Koninck (1883) [= Bucania reticulata M'Coy 1844 sensu de Koninck 1883 p. 152 pl. 41 f. 9-12;]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Knightites (Retispira) exilis by de Koninck (1883) and Gromczakiewicz-Lomnicka (1972); it was recombined as Bucaniopsis exilis by Weir (1931); it was recombined as Retispira exilis by Batten (1966), Rollins (1975) and Wagner (2023).
