Taxonomy
Carrickia pinguimitra was named by Chatterton and Ludvigsen (1976). Its type specimen is GSC 43414, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Phorocephala pinguimitra by Chatterton (1980).
