Taxonomy
Hydrobiites handlirschi was named by Ponomarenko (2011). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Landesmuseum Niederosterreich F-5411A, an elytra, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rudolfstollen waste heap, Seekopf Ridge, Lunz, which is in a Carnian fluvial-deltaic shale in the Lunz Formation of Austria.
