Mesolocustopsis angusta was named by Gorochov et al. (2006). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is BMB 018604/-5, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Auclaye Brickworks (BMB collection), which is in a Barremian lagoonal claystone in the Weald Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
