Brochocoleus was named by Hong (1982). It is the type genus of Brochocoleidae.
It was assigned to Brochocoleidae by Hong (1982); to Ommatinae by Kirejtshuk (2020); and to Brochocoleini by Ponomarenko (1994), Ponomarenko (2006), Soriano and Delclos (2006), Tan and Ren (2009), Tan et al. (2012), Jarzembowski et al. (2016), Tang et al. (2024).
It was assigned to Brochocoleidae by Hong (1982); to Ommatinae by Kirejtshuk (2020); and to Brochocoleini by Ponomarenko (1994), Ponomarenko (2006), Soriano and Delclos (2006), Tan and Ren (2009), Tan et al. (2012), Jarzembowski et al. (2016), Tang et al. (2024).
