Eurhomalea was named by Cossmann (1920) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R]. It is extant. Its type is Venus rufa.
It was assigned to Tapetinae by Chiesa et al. (1995); to Veneridae by Malumian et al. (1978), Gordillo (1991), Frassinetti and Covacevich (1995), Frassinetti and Covacevich (1999); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
