Taxonomy
Cytherea antarctica was named by Sharman and Newton (1897) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; Seymour Island, Antarctica.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Venus antarctica by Wilckens (1911); it was recombined as Eurhomalea antarctica by Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992).
