Taxonomy
Sophogramma was named by Ren and Guo (1996). Its type is Sophogramma papilionacea. It is the type genus of Sophogrammatinae.
It was assigned to Kalligrammatidae by Ren and Guo (1996); to Kalligrammidae by Yang et al. (2009), Makarkin et al. (2012); and to Sophogrammatinae by Yang et al. (2014).
