Taxonomy
Palaeotaeniopteryx laeta was named by Sinitshenkova and Aristov (2010). Its type specimen is PIN 3840/344, a forewing (forewing fragment), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Isady Locality (Mutovino, PIN collection 3840), which is in a Wuchiapingian lacustrine siltstone in the Poldarsa Formation of the Russian Federation.
