Taxonomy
Wesmaelius mathewesi was named by Makarkin et al. (2003). Its type specimen is SFU Q-0092, a forewing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Quilchena (SFU collection), which is in a Ypresian lacustrine - large mudstone in the Tranquille Formation of Canada.
