Taxonomy
Lophioneura was named by Tillyard (1921). It is not extant. Its type is Lophioneura ustulata. It is the type genus of Lophioneuridae.

It was assigned to Lophioneuridae by Tillyard (1921), Tillyard (1926), Tillyard (1935), Carpenter (1992), Beckemeyer (2004), Ulitzka (2021).
