Taxonomy
Progoneura venula was named by Carpenter (1947). Its type specimen is MCZ 4791, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Midco Locality 16 (ESU Collection), which is in an Artinskian lacustrine limestone in the Wellington Formation of Oklahoma.
