Apsidoneura was named by Carpenter (1943). It is the type genus of Apsidoneuridae.
It was assigned to Paleuthygrammidae by Carpenter (1943); to Euthygrammidae by Zimmerman (1962); to Apsidoneuridae by Carpenter (1961), Burnham (1984), Carpenter (1992); to Caloneurodea by Béthoux et al. (2004); and to Aspidoneuridae by Huang et al. (2020).
