Saucrosmylus was named by Ren and Yin (2003). It is not extant. Its type is Saucrosmylus sambneurus. It is the type genus of Saucrosmylinae.
It was assigned to Saucrosmylinae by Ren and Yin (2003); and to Saucrosmylidae by Fang et al. (2015), Winterton et al. (2019).
