Taxonomy
Paranileus elongatus was named by Hintze (1953) [Paratypes: 26411, 26244-5 (AMNH).]. Its type specimen is 26243 (AMNH), a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Presbynileus elongatus by Hintze (1954).
