Taxonomy
Bumastus aplatus was named by Raymond (1925). Its type specimen is MCZ 1609, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Bumastus (Bumastoides) aplatus by Shaw (1968).
