Aeschnopsis jurassica

Taxonomy
Libellula jurassica was named by Giebel (1856). Its type specimen is BMNH I.12782/12778, a hindwing (male(?) hindwing basal fragment), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dinton, Vale of Wardour, Middle Purbeck, which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal horizon in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Aeshna jurassica by Kirby (1890); it was recombined as Mesogomphus jurassicus by Handlirsch (1906); it was recombined as Necrogomphus jurassicus by Nel et al. (1998); it was recombined as Aeschnopsis jurassica by Bechly et al. (2001).
