Taxonomy

Stenolestes was named by Scudder (1895).

It was assigned to Petrolestinae by Nel (1986); to Megapodagrioninae by Carpenter (1992); and to Sieblosiidae by Nel and Paicheler (1994), Nel et al. (2005), Archibald et al. (2021).

Synonyms

Megasemum was named by Maneval (1936).

It was synonymized subjectively with Stenolestes by Nel and Papazian (1986), Nel and Paicheler (1994).

It was assigned to Zygoptera by Carpenter (1992).
Megasemum was named by Aymard (1856).

It was considered a nomen nudum by Aymard (1856); it was replaced with Megasemum by Maneval (1936).
