Apudites antiquus
Taxonomy
Apudites antiquus was named by Schimper (1853). Its type specimen is SMNS 75644-18a, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is ‘Carriere royale’ quarry (‘Konigsgrube’) near Soultz-les-Bains, which is in an Anisian lacustrine - small shale/sandstone in the Voltzia Formation of France. It is the type species of Apudites.
