Taxonomy

Tarsophlebia was named by Hagen (1866). Its type is Tarsophlebia eximia. It is the type genus of Tarsophlebiidae.

It was assigned to Isophlebiidae by Ponomarenko (1985); and to Tarsophlebiidae by Handlirsch (1906), Martynov (1927), Jarzembowski (1990), Carpenter (1992), Nel et al. (1993), Fleck et al. (2004).

Synonyms

Tarsophlebiopsis was named by Tillyard (1923). Its type is Tarsophlebiopsis mayi.

It was synonymized subjectively with Tarsophlebia by Fleck et al. (2004).

It was assigned to Tarsophlebiidae by Tillyard (1923), Carpenter (1992), Nel et al. (1993).
