Triassothemis was named by Carpenter (1960). It is not extant. Its type is Triassothemis mendozensis.
It was assigned to Odonata by Carpenter (1960); to Triassothemidae by Fujiyama (1991); to Triassothemistini by Bechly (1997); and to Triassolestidae by Carpenter (1992), Nel et al. (2002).
